Workshop on Marine Acoustic Imaging

A free to attend workshop on Marine Acoustic Imaging is to be hosted at the University of Bath on May 25 from 10:15 to 14:00 at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, 4W 1.2, University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath, BA2 7AY.

This workshop will present new challenges in marine acoustic imaging, with the aim of stimulating discussion; seeking questions; solutions and generating new collaborations.

The workshop forms part of the IMI Thematic Semester on Imaging and is arranged by both IMI and the Department of Physics at the University of Bath.

Talk 1: Acoustic imaging and underwater applications – Progress and research questions Philippe Blondel, Bath)

Talk 2: Acoustic beamforming and signal processing for underwater remote sensing (Alan Hunter, Bath)

11.30 am - 12.00 noon Coffee and networking

12.00 noon - 1.00 pm

Talk 3: Propagation in complex environments (Guillermo Jiménez Arranz, SWTG)

Talk 4: Multi-frequency seafloor characterization using seismic sources of opportunity (Nikhil Banda, Seiche Ltd.)

Talk 5:Acoustic tomography and marine mammal protection (Stephen Cook, KTP Associate with Seiche Ltd.)

Discussion: Looking at potential challenges, solutions and future interdisciplinary collaborations
